Tax Policy

We need to eliminate the tax on social security income for our senior citizens. Minnesota is only one of 12 states in the nation that still taxes social security. That’s not how we want to treat our senior citizens.

One of my top priorities right now is to lower the tax rates for people of all income levels in Minnesota. We’re obviously collecting far too many dollars because we still have $9 billion on the bottom line. That absolutely needs to come back to the people of Minnesota in the form of tax reductions.

We should have passed a tax bill in 2021. But Democrats wanted to spend way too much money, which prevented us from passing a reasonable tax bill. We can still do a tax bill without horribly high spending, even in a non-spending year. But we need to be smart, use our resources wisely, and work together to get it done.
