Education

Our kids are the future of Minnesota. Each of our schools are extremely important. We have so many wonderful schools in the state, from public to private to charter schools and colleges, but we need to do better. The achievement gap between our most successful kids and our students who are struggling continues to widen and get worse in Minnesota. Funding our schools is critical, but money alone isn’t going to solve all of the problems.

We have to be smart about using the funds we have. We need to support our teachers and our school staff, getting them the training and programs they need. We have to cut way back on mandates in schools and we need to get the right resources to the right people so our kids can succeed. We also need to pay our newest teachers better salaries. We need to work on outreach to our college students and we need to find a way to offer incentives for them to become teachers.

I care about our kids, and I fully believe we need to invest in all of our schools here in Minnesota. Let’s work together to do that in a way that makes sense and offers the best chance for our kids to thrive.
